I am not sure if you watched it, but Vice President Kamala Harris was on fire tonight in Flint, Michigan.
The whole rally is great, but she appears around 42 minutes into this clip:
Watching her speak about her plans for America and then seeing the crowd break out into chanting “USA” was so moving.
Especially after years of MAGA Republicans, who worship a man who is the exact opposite of patriotic, wrap themselves in American flags.
My favorite line from her speech tonight was:
“…And because we love our country, we know it is one of the highest forms of patriotism to then fight for the ideals of our country and to fight to realize the promise of America. That’s what this is about…”
This is one of the most important elections in American history and the most important one of our lifetimes thus far. I would say the 1860 election and the 1932 election were also turning point ones. So, if you were alive in 1932, you experienced one other very consequential election.
The 2024 election is a choice between the future or the past.
It’s a choice between continuing this idealistic although not yet fully realized American experiment in democracy or just shutting it all down and selling it for parts to billionaires and wannabe/soon-to-be autocrats.
It’s a choice between multiracial democracy and Christo Fascist white supremacy.
It’s a choice between a vote for what this country can be versus a vote for what it used to be.
Please don’t sit this one out. Don’t let your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, associates, or anyone else sit this one out either.
There are more of us who want to move forward.
We just all need to vote.
Because, as Vice President Harris says: “When we vote, we win”
I’ll end with some lyrics that came to mind after reflecting on this election.
American Tune by Paul Simon
And I dreamed I was flying
And high up above my eyes could clearly see
The Statue of Liberty
Sailing away to sea
And I dreamed I was flyingWe come on the ship they call The Mayflower
We come on the ship that sailed the moon
We come in the age's most uncertain hours
And sing an American tune
The American tune we sing after Election Day will depend on us and our actions now.
We are 32 days away.
Let’s make history by continuing to move forward.

If you lived during the 1932 elections you are 92 years old. and if you voted in that election you are at least 113 years old! But seriously there are a few people out there who are reluctant to vote for VP Harris because of Israel and the rise in antisemitism that has come with what happened since October 7th. I think I can convince those people that Harris is the better choice but I think you can do a better job being an experienced teacher and all that. So for that horrible anniversary you may want to dedicate your next Substack to just that. Do I agree with the above? Yes.
Obviously TFG thinks those of the Jewish faith in the US should care more about what is happening in Israel than what is happening in the United States. Tara Dublin (the OTHER paid subscription I subscribe to who happens to be Jewish) thinks this is antisemitic thinking.
