Trump has sunk to yet another new low. As he approaches the 100-day mark of his presidency, with his approval ratings at a historic low, he’s doubling down on his usual tactics.
His staff has planted roughly 100 mug shots of immigrants on the White House lawn. Each placard, stamped with “ARRESTED” and the official White House logo, lines what’s known as “Pebble Beach” — the area where TV news crews film live shots with the White House in the background.
The goal is clear: to make these posters visible behind reporters during broadcasts.
My request to journalists: blur these images.
Research consistently shows that immigrants — including undocumented immigrants — are less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born citizens. These posters don’t just spread dangerous stereotypes; they deliberately fuel xenophobia and undermine the fundamental due process rights guaranteed to everyone under the U.S. Constitution.
I found a photo that obscures the images enough as to not highlight (from Axios).
This is the stuff of authoritarian regimes. But xenophobia has long been woven into America’s story — and it’s on us to write a different ending.
Beyond sickening!!!!! I beg folks, please remember the members of congress that are sitting silent and permitting this INSANE behavior!!! Remember them come midterms and in 2028!!!!!
